Business Meets Community (continued)

PricewaterhouseCoopers (PWC) has moved forward on their partnership with the Dearborn Middle School and the Lilla Fredericks Pilot School, through the Out of Harm’s Way initiative. PWC employees will hold workshops on internet-based research for school projects for students in the afterschool programs at both middle schools. In addition, PWC employees from their IT division are working with the school principals to analyze IT infrastructure needs and provide potential solutions.

On January 30, 2007 UWMB partnered with the Massachusetts Mentoring Partnership on the first ever Youth Mentoring Forum. This event brought together corporate leaders from across Greater Boston to learn about the case for mentoring, the need for more caring adults in children’s lives, and examples of outstanding corporate volunteer programs. UWMB CEO Milton J. Little, Jr. spoke about our commitment to mentoring through Business Meets Community, TGTL, and the overall IYO impact strategy. He challenged corporate leaders to lead by example, increase their own company's commitment to mentoring, and reach out to their peers who have not yet embraced mentoring as part of a corporate engagement strategy.
