increasing youth opportunitiesupdatesTurn It Up & Get ActiveWith the support of a $50,000 grant from P&G Gillette, UWMB is currently working to expand into Dorchester, Roxbury and Mattapan. This will be accomplished by implementing a train-the-trainer model that will both introduce more programs to the curriculum and build capacity in the community to support healthy eating and exercise behaviors among youth. In addition to the HEAT Club curriculum, organizations that participate will also benefit from using a self-assessment tool designed by the Boston Medical Center to evaluate the effectiveness of policies and program the use of the HEAT Club curriculum among youth serving organizations in components that affect healthy eating and physical activity in after-school environments. Trainers and prospective agencies will attend trainings in spring 2007, with curriculum implementation beginning in fall 2007. For more information, please contact esokolow@uwmb.org |
